In 2014, I founded - along with colleagues from eight countries on four continents - The Upstream Alliance, a partnership among scientists and citizens working together to reduce schistosomiasis, a Neglected Tropical Disease and a disease of poverty. We are performing cutting edge research, re-introducing prawns to their native waterways, and developing a new sustainable prawn-farming enterprise for the health and well being of the local communities.
